"Getting Rid Of The Accursed Things"

Text:  Joshua 7:

bulletText background:
bulletDeut 23:9 - Do not touch the impure things of the enemy when in battle.  The children of Israel were to accomplish their mission and take none of the spoils of battle.
bulletDeut 7 - Israelites warned not to take the belongings of the enemy.
bulletAs believers, we've taken on some things are not of God and these ungodly things separate us from God.  The accursed things are those things in our lives that put a wedge between God and ourselves.
bulletSometimes when we've been blessed (the way the Hebrews were in their conquest of Jericho) we think we've arrived.  Its at those time when we think we should be able to overrun the enemy camp that we discover that there are some accursed things in the camp.
bulletv. 8-9, Joshua was crying and complaining before the Lord that they had lost the battle and Yahweh tells him in v. 10 to get up and don't look at God but look within the camp.
bulletOne man's sin effected the entire community.  One man's sin caused the death of man men in battle.  One man's sin set the community apart from God's protection and provision.
bulletHow can we overcome the accursed things?
bulletCorrect our vision (v. 21)
bulletChange our wardrobe
bulletChange our desires from the silver and gold.
