Follow The Star - December 3, 1999
To celebrate the advent of our Lord, the Makiki family came together on
Friday evening to have a dinner fellowship, to participate in a scavenger hunt
through the Kahala mall with transportation provided by the Waikiki Trolleys, to
drive through downtown Honolulu to see the Christmas displays at night, and to
sing the songs of Christmas.
Your Assignment Mr. Phelps . . .
There were 8 teams assembled from the congregation in attendance that
night. To the left you can see the team captains are being
announced.
You
can't have a scavenger hunt without the list of items. Here Sis. Phyllis
Ibara and Sis. Julie try to see what is in their envelope praying that they
might get a sneak peak and determine their mission for the evening.
Once
the captains and the teams were announced final instructions were given.
One of the stipulations of the hunt through the Kahala mall was that the teams
had to stay together as a unit.
If any of the monitors observed team members who were separated from their
team, the whole team had to take a three minute timeout.
Three
Waikiki Trolleys picked all the participants and transported them to the Kahala
mall. Even though it rained that evening, everyone's spirit was
high. Bus leaders were encouraged to lead the buses in singing Christmas
carols.
At The Kahala Mall . . .
Each team was required to answer 7 riddles, the answers of which could be
found by looking in the window displays of the various stores within the
mall. Once all of the riddles were answered, the teams had to correct plug
the answers into a fill in the blank final riddle. Below, a couple of
teams are working on completing the final riddle.
